Chapter 140: No Royal Stone

"I do not want courage praised until after my hands stop shaking."
Lina said it in the cellar with Tamsin in front of her, Garron behind her, and the locked Stone cage on the far side of the brick screen where no one could pretend it was part of the room. The crown riders had been gone for two hours. Valmora was still buzzing around the inn like a market that had swallowed a wasp. Every few minutes someone knocked, asked a question, offered a rumor, or tried to buy soup with the expression of a person hoping soup came with safety.
Old Pero had taken the common room in hand. Vex had gone to the Rose to prepare for royal curiosity. Thessia was drafting witness terms. Orin was trying to find out how Caldus knew the fake folio title without screaming into a book. Isolde had the temple key around her neck. Sama had vanished after saying "invitation," because Sama enjoyed leaving words on tables like knives.
That left Lina, Tamsin, and Garron in the cellar where the air smelled of stone, onions, dust, and old heat.
Tamsin held Lina's wrists, thumbs over her pulse. "No praising courage. Noted. Do you want comfort, distraction, argument, or the kind of touch that makes your body remember the crown does not own it?"
Lina closed her eyes before wanting could choose the language. The answer came fast enough to embarrass her. "The last one. But not if it turns refusal into a reward I have to earn."
Garron said behind her, "Then we do it because you want it. Not because you refused well."
Tamsin looked over Lina's shoulder. "Good sentence. Annoyingly useful."
"I brought it in case of trouble."
Lina laughed, and the laugh shook. "Terms. No Stone, no bluevein, no bellows drop, no praise that sounds like command, no kneeling because my knees are still suggestible, and no one says brave during sex."
Tamsin's mouth softened. "My terms: I stay in front unless I choose otherwise. Garron touches you only where you ask or where I repeat your ask if your words fail. If fear spikes, we stop. If arousal comes with royal voice memory, we name it and do not chase it."
Garron's hands settled lightly on Lina's shoulders. "My terms: I do not hold you from behind unless you lean back. I do not block the stairs. If you need out, you go out."
"Accepted," Lina said.
The cellar had no bed. That helped. There was a clean blanket folded on the flour sacks, a stool, and a stack of empty crates. Tamsin spread the blanket on the floor near the wall, far from the Stone screen. Garron lit one lamp and turned it low. No scene could pretend to be royal in lamplight that showed dust honestly.
Lina undressed herself. Dress first, then stays, then shift. Her fingers fumbled at one tie. Tamsin did not help until Lina asked.
"Help with the left tie."
Tamsin untied it and kissed the exposed skin below Lina's breast. "Request answered."
Garron removed his shirt. Then he waited. That waiting did more to Lina than his chest. Her body wanted to rush because fear liked turning into urgency. Tamsin saw it before Lina could hide it.
"Slow," Tamsin said. "Timing, not command."
"Slow," Lina repeated.
She stood naked between them. Tamsin faced her, fully dressed except for unlaced bodice. Garron stood behind, trousers loose, hands at his sides. Lina felt seen from both directions, not trapped. That distinction mattered enough to make her eyes sting.
"Touch," she said. "Both of you. Shoulders first."
Tamsin's hands settled on the front of her shoulders. Garron's hands settled behind them. Four hands, warm, human, imperfect. Lina breathed until her body understood the difference between being held and being kept.
"Mouth," she said to Tamsin.
Tamsin kissed her. Not gently and not roughly. As if Lina's mouth was the place the day ended. Garron stayed still until Lina reached back and brought one of his hands around to her waist.
"Here."
He held her waist. Tamsin opened Lina with her tongue, one hand sliding down to cup Lina's breast. Lina moaned into her mouth. Garron's breath changed behind her.
"Report," Tamsin murmured.
"Arousal is strong. Fear lowering. Body present. Want your hand between my thighs. Want Garron's mouth on my neck. No royal voice."
Garron asked, "Neck?"
"Yes. Side, not throat."
His mouth touched the side of her neck. Tamsin's hand slid between Lina's thighs and found her wet. Lina gasped before she could make herself dignified. The cellar floor was cold under her feet. Tamsin's fingers were warm, direct, circling her clit without making her ask twice.
"No kneeling," Lina whispered, because pleasure had made her knees soft.
Garron shifted behind her and braced her hips without pushing down. "Standing hold?"
"Yes."
Tamsin smiled against Lina's mouth. "The floor may wait its turn."
The joke saved Lina from fear. She laughed, then moaned as Tamsin slid two fingers into her. Garron kissed her shoulder and stroked one hand up her belly to her breast, pausing until she nodded. His palm covered her, thumb brushing her nipple.
Lina came standing between them, Tamsin's fingers inside her, Garron's arms steady but not trapping, her own hands gripping Tamsin's bodice. The orgasm hit fast, less elegant than relief, more human than courage. She shook hard enough that Garron asked whether to lower her.
"Blanket," Lina said. "Chosen."
They helped her down. Tamsin stripped then, not for performance, but because Lina reached for skin. Tamsin's breasts came free, nipples flushed, skirt pushed to her hips. Lina turned onto her side and pulled Tamsin close.
"I want to taste you," Lina said. "Not as thanks. Because you asked the right question upstairs."
Tamsin's face changed. "Yes."
Garron started to move back.
Tamsin caught his wrist. "Stay where I can see you. Touch yourself if you want, but name it first."
Garron swallowed. "I want to touch myself while watching Lina use her mouth on you. I will stop if either of you asks."
Tamsin gave Lina the look that had ruined many beautiful excuses.
Lina's body answered before pride could. "I want that too."
Tamsin lay back on the blanket, knees bent, skirts gathered. Lina moved between her thighs and put her mouth on Tamsin's cunt with a hunger that had nothing to do with the crown. Tamsin was wet, salty, warm, and alive under her tongue. Garron knelt a few feet away, not between them and the stairs, trousers open, one hand around his cock. He watched because Tamsin had permitted it, and the permission made the watching hotter than theft could ever be.
Tamsin's hands went into Lina's hair, then loosened. "Not holding. Feeling."
Lina hummed against her. Tamsin cursed softly. Garron's hand moved faster. The sound of his breathing joined Tamsin's moans and Lina's mouth, turning the cellar into a room owned by their choices.
Tamsin came with her back arching off the blanket, one hand over her own mouth because Old Pero was upstairs and deserved peace if not innocence. Lina kept licking until Tamsin tapped twice on her shoulder.
"Enough."
Lina stopped at once.
Garron did too, hand still around his cock, jaw tight.
Tamsin looked at him through aftershocks. "Do you want to finish?"
"Yes."
Lina sat up, mouth wet, pulse wild. "How?"
"My hand is enough."
Tamsin reached for his knee. "Then use it while looking at us. No kneeling closer unless asked."
He obeyed because obedience chosen in a room full of equals looked nothing like Stone. Garron stroked himself, breath rough, eyes moving between Lina's flushed face and Tamsin's open thighs. When he came, he caught it in the cloth he had set beside him before undressing. Practical even then. Lina adored him a little for it and refused to make that a crisis before breakfast.
Afterward they dressed slowly. Water. Cloth. Bread from a cellar shelf that Old Pero had hidden badly. Tamsin leaned against Lina's shoulder. Garron sat opposite them, one knee up, looking younger when tired.
"Give me the report in plain words," Tamsin said.
Lina took the notebook from the crate. "Refusal followed by chosen touch can return body ownership if no dangerous formula, authority posture, or praise-as-command is present. Standing hold useful when kneeling has been contaminated. Witnessed desire can strengthen refusal when all exits remain open."
Garron accepted that with a grave nod. "Add: no one thanked the crown with their body."
Lina wrote it.
Upstairs, the inn door opened and closed. Old Pero's voice carried down. "If you are here to ask whether Lina Beren truly refused the queen, buy soup first and ask after chewing."
Tamsin laughed into Lina's shoulder.
Garron looked at both of them over the rim of his cup. "We should go upstairs soon."
"Because of the customers?" Lina asked.
"Because hiding too long makes victory smell like fear."
Tamsin sighed. "I hate when he is right in complete sentences."
The hearth above them answered with one warm pulse through the cellar stones.
Not approval.
Not command.
A house remembering the hand that stayed.
